Build out Case study

This build out is in the Charlie Hines Studio in Lebanon, OH. It includes:

  • 6 QCA-Scatter Plates

  • 4 QCA-Quad7’s

  • 8 QCA-Lattice Diffusers

  • 4 QCA-Bass Traps

Problem: Low end frequencies were under mitigated compared to higher frequency. Our customer had to use digital counter measures to compensate to emphasize the higher frequencies and pushed his editing hardware as far as it could go. This was maxing out his range and restricting his ability to make proper adjustments to the recordings in his studio.

Solution: We used scatter plates on bass traps to reflect more high frequency back to the source while allowing the low end to pass through and be absorbed. We also used the lattice diffusers and Quad7’s to diffuse the shockwaves of the bass frequencies making the low frequency load much easier to manage.

Result: The frequency imbalance is now physically corrected allow the customer to utilize his digital adjustment range to its full potential.

Customer Testimony:

"Working in a space that wasn't originally designed as a studio presents a unique set of challenges, but Queen City Acoustics completely transformed my environment. While many of the big names in acoustic treatment are based down in Nashville and won't make the trip up to the Cincinnati and Dayton area to personally test a room, Nick and his team provide a level of local, hands-on service that is frankly unmatched. Having a builder who actually visits your space to take detailed measurements ensures that the final product isn't just a guess—it’s a precision-engineered solution for your specific walls.
The attention to detail and the sheer quality of the custom scatter plates, quadratic diffusers, and bass traps have perfectly balanced my room. It’s rare to find gear that makes a studio sound better, look better, and feel better all at once, but the craftsmanship here is phenomenal. Nick’s scatter plates specifically gave me back the high-end clarity I was missing, and the overall aesthetic has drastically improved the vibe of the studio. My clients are constantly commenting on the professional feel of the room now. Nick is amazing to work with and offers incredibly reasonable turnarounds; I can’t recommend Queen City Acoustics enough for any serious engineer looking to elevate their space."
